Pretty Stuff
I’m on the hunt for some inspiring bookshelves and I thought I would share some of my findings with you. I have decided that I like bookshelves with a lot of color and interesting things to look at.

What do you have on your bookshelf?

P.S. Today’s the last day to enter the design challenge. Voting starts on Monday!

Usually I subscribe to 4-5 design magazines per year. When it’s time to renew I gauge how much I like them by how many pages are earmarked, or just plain ripped out. If there’s only one or two per edition I usually don’t renew. This year I decided not to renew 3 of them and went with one that was a little more expensive and in French! Was it worth it? You tell me:

This is the first edition of Elle Decor Idees that I got. More than half the pages are earmarked!
Here’s a few of the images from the current one that I loved!
Need an outdoor table but don’t want to spend a lot of money? Here they took 3 different used tables and painted them all the same: white with an aqua stripe across the top. I bet you couldn’t even tell at first glance that they are all different styles!

I’m not a huge “work in the garden” kind of lady. I’ve tried! I really have! Every year for the last 3 years something else seems to eat/kill my plants. But, I think I might try a little harder if my garden shed were painted like this!

You can order your own subscription through Amazon.

P.S. Don’t forget that the design challenge ends tomorrow! Enter here.

Remedies

image from HGTV
It’s a little embarassing to admit this, but my washer stinks like rotten eggs. I have googled endlessly for ideas on ways to get the stink out, but haven’t had any luck.

The other day I received a $1 coupon for Tide Washing Machine Cleaner in the mail so I decided to give it a try. It comes with three treatment packages. Since my washer already smells, Tide recommends using one package a week until the box is gone and then using one treatment package a month after that. I just did my second treatment on Monday and so far, my washer is cleaner and doesn’t smell like rotten eggs anymore.
Do you have any funny issues like this at your house that you are having trouble with?

Look at these beautiful table and chairs that Emily sent in to show us! She purchased the drop-leaf table and four chairs on Craigslist for $100. She stripped, sanded, painted and reupholstered the chairs. It brings a whole new look into her apartment and looks incredible. For more pictures of the process, click here.

It just goes to show that good design and beautiful things can be done under just about any budget. Do you have a project that you’d like to share with us? Send it to contactus AT freshnestdesign DOT com or click here.
