Home Tour
Can you believe this Laundry Room makeover?!? Sausha at {show & tell} did this herself! I’m loving how she made her own risers with storage underneath for her washer and dryer! You can purchase those, but building your own to coordinate with the cabinets already there is so much better!

If I did laundry in this room, it might not seem like such a chore!

Fun

Take this style quiz over at Ethan Allen to see what your decorating style is by clicking on pretty pictures. It only takes a matter of minutes and it’s fun. My style is metro.

Another fun quiz is over at Pratt & Lambert Paints. It’s a short quiz as well asking questions about your color preferences and the type of mood you’d like to create in your home. My result is above, and it’s suprisingly accurate.

And last, but not least, try out this quiz offered by the International School of Color and Design. It’s another quickie. I was labeled New York Loft. Probably not totally accurate, but still fun nonetheless.
So how about you? What is your style?

Fun

Forgive me for being a little lax today. I took a last minute vacation over the weekend to Estes Park, CO with my boys and loved every minute of it.

We just got back last night and even though the trip was short I’m still recovering from all the hiking, good food and relaxation.

As you can see, my prego belly is more than noticable at this point. And summer has not been good to my feet…. if I were green, I would look like shrek. My swelling feet loved the mountains and they are back to normal. Now if I can only keep them that way.
For a little design inspiration, check out this before and after couch reveal by the ever-so-talented Susan from Freshly Picked.

Space Redesigns
This design is based off of these fabulous plates that I found in Paris at La Chaise Longue.

I was so protective of them that I counted them as a carry-on for the plane and they didn’t leave my sight until I unpacked them safely in my kitchen! I love the modern, colorful take on a very classic design!! This would probably be the kitchen I’d want to display them in:

1. Kitchen Island from Kitchen Island Co. What better way to let the colors take center stage than with a mainly neutral kitchen?
2. Green Brita Water Filter from Target. Love the new colors! Perfect to go, straight from the fridge!
3. Fiesta dinnerware in coordinating colors from JcPenney. Don’t be afraid to mix and match the colors!
4. Measuring Spoons silhouette from OodlesofColor. Don’t you just love it? The shop owner will also do custom colors of the print, so be sure to choose some colors that correspond with the plates too!
5. Custom chevron curtains from Nenavon.
6. White bar stools. A perfect place to sit and enjoy all the color! If you’re really digging the color, try reupholstering the seats in some coordinating fabric!

Inspiration
One thing that always draws my eye in design are the simple details. Ann Gish really draws me in with the simple details of her bedding lines.

Big Zip Bedding. One colored zipper on a white pillow with over-sized graphics. Gorgeous and simple, all at the same time.

Poppy Ivory Marina. Clean and crisp white with contrasting red graphics. Love it!

Island Big Quilt Dupione. Love the color and texture juxtapositions! Simply fabulous!
You can keep this principle in mind when you’re choosing items for your space! The simplest of details can go a long way!
