I love fall! What better way to welcome fall than to cook with apples that are in abundance pretty much everywhere! Here are a few of my favorite apple based recipes:

1. No-Fry Apple Cider Doughnuts
2. Apple Coffee Cake
3. Apple Crisp
4. Apple Strudel

I LOVE the smells of fall! The easiest way to get all those wonderful warm cinnamon spice smells is to make a fresh batch of spiced apple cider! Here’s my own easy recipe that not only makes your house smell delicious but is warm and yummy!

What you’ll need:
new, clean cheesecloth (Cut into a 6″ square)
clean sewing thread or string
1 gallon apple juice
2 cinnamon sticks
1 tsp. whole cloves
pinch of allspice
2 lemon slices
Place all the spices and lemon slices in the cheesecloth square and tie up with the clean thread. Put your apple cider in the crock pot on low with your little wrapped spices. Let warm up for just 20 minutes and enjoy!

Since the big move day for me is less than two weeks away I’ve been doing a lot of cooking from scratch to try to get rid of as many ingredients as possible. I found two apples in the fridge and decided I wanted to cook with them instead of just snack on them. A little light went off in my head and I remembered this recipe from in the fall to make apple crisp in the microwave. I thought I’d give it a try and was pleasantly surprised! It was fabulous and the house smelled wonderful! The apples were cooked well and the topping (my favorite part) was just crispy enough! My husband and I ate the entire thing in a matter of minutes!
