Ice Blue Interiors

I love clean white spaces with a touch of Icy blue.  They are gorgeous, simple, and fun, all at the same time!  Here are a few of my favorites saved in my inspiration folder.

Dreamy white bedroom: Vincente Wolf's Palm Beach makeover + modern four-poster + 'Patriotic White' by Benjamin Moore{From House Beautiful}

I’m loving the overall neutral feel of this room paired with hints of ice blue and apple green!

Serene neutral paint: Taupe dining room + sky blue ceiling{Picture from Domino Magazine (now retired)}

This room also feels pretty neutral, but the ceiling is fabulous.  LOVE it!

Warm + modern, blue + brown: Norman Cherner chairs + beautiful maple dining table

{Beautiful interior Residence from designer Eric Cohler}

Oh my!  Love the warm wood tones and blue back painted glass bar.  Absolutely gorgeous!

Monday Redesign: Living Room

Hello everyone! I hope you’re ready for a fun-filled holiday week! We are loving the snow on the ground here in the Midwest and are excited to spend the holidays with family and loved ones. Here’s a mood board of a fun living room for this Monday’s redesign.

Living Room Redesign Dec 2009I really like this mood board a lot, if I do say so myself.  I’m trying to convince my husband that we need to start all over in the living room and turn it into something like this.  Of course, he just looks at me– he’s realize by now that I say this about every six months.  It’s the joy of living with someone creative, right?  I always have to be changing my surroundings.

Here’s a break down of the goodies:

  1. This sofa is perfect for this room.  Simple and modern and light.  I love it!  I have placed some accent pillows on the couch to bring in the other colors of the room.  {Don’t you just love this mix of reds and blues?!}.  You can find the pillows here, here and here.
  2. These Neo Bunching Cubes work perfectly for end tables and open storage.  I imagine a stack of books, or magazines housed in them.  They are so open, yet sturdy.
  3. Don’t you just love the natural feel of this coffee table?  I think it’s beautiful!  It provides a little texture in the room and compliments everything very well.
  4. This rug is gorgeous, no?  It’s made by Madeline Weinrib Atelier.  She has such a great collection of rugs… I could take one of each, really.
  5. This little birdie vase is a perfect accent for one of the bunching cubes.
  6. This print would be perfect placed above the sofa, or above the little birdie vase if you had a window above your sofa.  It’s a cheery motto to have posted in a place where everyone can see it.
  7. I absolutely love this lamp.  It’s classy and fun all at the same time.

I hope you enjoyed this living room mood board.  Don’t forget to enter the It’s Complicated giveaway– it ends today!

Monday Redesign: Toddler Boy Room

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. My son is such a delight to hang out with that my head is spinning with fun toddler boy room ideas. {He is 20 months old}. So I’m here today with a toddler boy room redesign.

Toddler boy room redesign

And now for a breakdown of the goodies:

  1. The color scheme I choose was blue, gray, yellow and white.  It’s clean and fun and it seems like a toddler boy could grow with this for quite sometime.  {I always try to design for 5-7 year stints as I’m usually ready for a change about then}.  It’s very hard to keep a children’s room timeless as items they are digging at 18 months will likely be different from items they like at age 5.  However, many elements in this room are timeless as I tried to keep it that way.   The color the the walls is Sherwin Williams Manitou Blue SW6501.
  2. These window treatments tie the entire color palette together and I love them!
  3. This bedding comes from Serena & Lily and they have a great soothing feel to them.  The bedding itself is timeless as they have solid colors mixed with nice patterns.
  4. I like pops of color in children’s rooms and this chair serves just that purpose.  Right at this time, we are dealing with time outs and we need a place other than our son’s bed {I don’t want him to dislike his “big boy” bed} so this chair is perfect. I’m okay with him hating a $13 chair.
  5. This rug has a slight pattern and is a perfect foundation for this toddler room.  I like it in the 5×7 size, but this would ultimately depend on the size of your room.
  6. Every toddler room needs a place for toys.  This 9 cube organizer shelf is perfect!  We actually already have this in my sons room and I love it.  I use the cubbies to store clothes and shoes, and the open shelves are perfect for toy and book storage.  I suggest covering the shelves with 12×12 paper {Click here to see how it looks- I just used a glue gun and adhered it to the provided backing}.  I suggest using gray fabric drawers and yellow paper with a slight pattern to give it depth and texture.
  7. I found this wall art in Modern Pop’s shop on Etsy.  I think it compliments this room perfectly and seriously, who doesn’t love owls?

What do you think?  Is there anything you would add to this boy toddler room?

Monday Redesign

Wow!  It looks like #2 won so here it is!  Although the colors look masculine, details like the embroidered ottoman and flower pillow give it a light feminine touch.

Euro Design Scheme

1. Nova Sofa from Bo Concept.  Love the light grey fabric that provides some texture to the room.

2. Main Wall Color:  Benjamin Moore Cloud Cover, Accent Wall Color: Benjamin Moore Flower Power.  This is a nice warm grey and the accent wall will add a bit of color to the room!

3. Blooming Pillows from Two Yellow Shoes on Etsy.  Love these simple graphic pillows and they help to pull our color palette together.

4. Sellersbrook Blue area rug from The Rug Company.  This rug has a great pattern and helps to compliment the light texture of the sofa.

5. Jeannie lamp from Schall Studio and Design.  Add a little pop to the room with these handmade lamps.

6. Fatboy Avenue Ottoman.  Available at Zwello.  Awesome white ottoman with a embroidered top that brings some of the flower motif from the pillows onto the ottoman.

So what do you think?

Monday Redesign: Living Room

Living Room Redesign

Happy Labor Day to everyone!  I hope you’re enjoying time off and spending it with family and friends.  Today, I have a living room that I designed with a slight anthropologie/retro flare.  It all started with the chair from Urban Outfitters and was built from there.  Here is a break down of the goodies:

  1. This sofa is a great staple to have from West Elm.  It will grow with you and will stand the test of time.  I love that it’s neutral and easy to accent.
  2. As I already mentioned, this chair is what got this whole mood board started.  I love the red, and love that it’s only $425!
  3. Isn’t this rug just beautiful?  It’s from Madeline Weinrib and I love it.
  4. Ikea just reduced some of their prices, and this side table is now $8!  You can’t beat that!  I would accent it with some vases- here and here.
  5. This lamp would add some dimension and lighting to the room.
  6. I love this wall art from inmod.  They come in two different sizes, so you can create a little mural with varying sizes, or just purchase one to make a statement.

I hope you enjoyed the redesign.  We will be back tomorrow with more goodies.  I’m off to enjoy the day with family at the State Fair – I think my son is going to love all the cows and pigs.
