Pretty Stuff Have you heard the news? Amy Butler is launching her wallpaper line with Graham & Brown later this month at ICFF. And thanks to Apartment Therapy, we all get a sneak peek.
As we all know, I love Amy Butler and her incredible designs so I couldn’t be more excited about this! Check out this Q & A we did with Amy a few months ago. She is so charming!
I hope you all have a great weekend and I would like to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all you hard working mothers out there. I sure hope you get the chance to kick back and ponder on what a great blessing it is to be a mom. I was in tears when I saw this incredible and touching video earlier this week. {Thank you NieNie for your gentle guidance and always putting things in perspective}. I feel like sometimes I let the day to day tasks get the better of me. When really, life is so much more than that. It is such a great honor to be a mom. So let’s celebrate!

Reader Questions We had a reader, Jeanne, write in and wanted to know some good online sources for wallpaper remnants. Here are some of our favorites:
Try DesignYourWall.com Their Modern Section has some great colors from many different designers and companies like Karim Rashid and Graham and Brown.

Striped Swirls Wallpaper
Need just a little bit for a small project and don’t want to buy a whole roll? Try searching on Ebay or Craigslist for smaller amounts of wallpaper. Many manufacturers will also send you sample amounts to test out so if you need a very small amount, order a sample and use that. (Use this method sparingly!) Try checking with your local paint/home improvement stores to see if they have any samples or discontinued samples you could take off of their hands!

Pretty Stuff I think that many times staircases get overlooked in a homes’ design. Here are some that make a statement all their own!

I love this one because of the dual purpose it serves. Not only is it stairs, but it provides tons of storage space and makes for an interesting design element. (Yes, there are no handrails so based on where it is and whose living in the home it might be against code to build with no handrails.)

This stair design, at first glance is just a standard wooden staircase. But all the risers are actually drawers! Ingenious! This is in my file for ideas for my own dream home!
Shawna’s Stair Redesign via Homebug. Another awesome idea! These stairs were carpeted. She removed the carpet, painted the treads and wallpapered the risers. Absolutely gorgeous and such clean design!

I love painted runners on staircases. It’s a quick way to add a color accent. Imagine how boring this home would be without that simple painted blue runner!
Ok, I have so many more awesome stairs bookmarked so I think I’ll save some more for later!
